Once Upon A Stair
Once, upon a stair, I saw a cat.
The cat saw me, and then it spat,
And hissed and arched and puffed its tail.
(As a sign of friendship, I'd call that a fail.)

Halloween dress-up this cat didn't see as fun.
The furry suit it wore was its only one.
Such changes in looks made it hard to see.
Whether I was myself, or was I me?

The cat gave a huff and went on his way.
Neglecting to bid me to have a nice day.
From the cat's point of view, I just wasn't there.
Standing all costumed, alone on the stair.
