Blanche, and her sister Grace (I750) , were adopted out when their mother died at an early age (38). Blanche grew up not knowing her natural family until she was in her teens. Her father remarried and had seven more children. Blanche and (her first husband) Paul (I758) moved to the southwest during the depression in search of a better climate, but managed to return to Illinois annually to keep strong family ties. Blanche worked for the Army Air Corps in California during WWI inspecting airplane parts. She taught conversational English to adult Thai students. When she was 60 she earned a double degree at the University of New Mexico. In her eighties she was the eldest active Realtor and Broker in Albuquerque. She maintained her own home until nine months before her death from gangrene from a blood clot in her leg.
