Celtic Quadrafoil

Quadrafoil While the trefoil  is a styilized geometric representation of the three leafed shamrock or clover, the quadrafoil is a styilized geometric representation of the four leafed shamrock.  The Celtic religion placed mystical meaning on many numbers: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 13 were especially significant.

A Celtic quadrafoil knot is a turkshead of three strands and four loops. This example has a stone of turquoise set in the center. Black, brown, or colored leather braids may be chosen for the string.
